Personal: Derrick was born on March 12, 1985 in Oakland Park, Florida. He attended high school at Northeast (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) High and participated in the Nike All-Star game and the Broward County All-Star game after his senior year.

Professional Career: Derrick has been on the practice squads for both the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Texans. He was promoted to the Buccaneers active roster on November 11, 2009 and made his NFL debit 4 days later against the Dolphins. He appeared in 6 games for the Bucs in 2009.

Collegiate Career: Derrick signed with Rutgers University out of high school and appeared in 40 career contests for the Scarlet Knights. As a true freshman, he played in 10 games as a backup cornerback. As a sophomore, he appeared in 11 games and started the final 8 contests of the year. During that season, he made 38 tackles. As a junior, he started 10 games and made 33 tackles and forced one fumble. As a senior in 2006, he started 8 games and returned an interception for a touchdown against Illinois.
